20 Jahre!

zeitgeist-brandenburg Twenty years ago the 87-mile Berlin Wall came down.  Standing as a border between the East and the West, the fall of the Berlin Wall also symbolized unificiation, democracy, freedom, liberty and universal application of human rights, all ideas which we support around the world as well.  With the marking of this anniversary, Fashionable Earth must also commend the innovation and creativity which has come out of Germany – both the East and the West – over the last couple decades: hessnatur, Room to Roam, Iki M., Magdalena Schaffrin, So Pure, Queen and Princess, and Julia Starp are just a few brands focusing on eco-friendly fashion.  After the USA, Germany is the second largest importer of ethically-produced cotton worldwide. Most people in Germany are fashion-conscious consumers who also want to keep their consciences clear. Mitte, a district that once formed the center of the East, is now at the heart of it all, also with a vibrant nightlife and ground-breaking art galleries.  We should all be so proud and boast President Kennedy’s famous words “Ich bin ein Berliner” today.
